MINDFULNESS AND BIOFEEDBACK WEBINAR RECORDING
Presenter: Inna Khazan, PhD
Difficult feelings, such as anxiety, sadness, and pain are natural and human and, therefore, normal. And yet, so many of us spend much of our time fighting with our feelings in an attempt to get rid of them. We put tremendous effort toward getting control of our feelings. But as we notice over and over again, it is not possible to control how we feel. So, as a result we end up getting stuck in a futile fight that creates more anxiety, more sadness and more pain. What we need to do is learn to respond to our feelings differently, rather than trying to stop having them.
Mindfulness and Biofeedback both offer us helpful ways to respond to difficult emotions and physical pain. Mindfulness enables us to pause long enough to make a choice of response. Skills learned through biofeedback are a large part of that chosen response.
In this one-hour webinar recording, Dr. Inna Khazan introduced the concept of mindfulness, and outline the applications of mindfulness-based skills, together with biofeedback, to various psychophysiological disorders.
