Clinicians interested in a mindfulness and acceptance approach to biofeedback will want to listen to these online class recordings that features Dr. Inna Khazan, a leader and author in the field of mindfulness and biofeedback. This class was designed for novice or experienced biofeedback practitioners who wished to integrate mindfulness and biofeedback as a tool in their practice. Over four 90-minute lessons, attendees learned how to assess and train with biofeedback using the BFE's Mindfulness software suite, while maintaining a mindfulness approach to treatment. By the end of the class, users were able to:
- understand the difference between mindfulness meditation and relaxation exercises;
- record a psychophysiological profile assessment on a subject;
- identify and remove any fake data (artifacts);
- generate and interpret the assessment report results;
- create a treatment plan;
- perform a relaxation evaluation;
- resonant frequency assessment;
- set up training screens and interpret training progress;
- complete basic interpretation of client report profiles.
Dr. Khazan is the primary instructor for lessons 1 and 4, with Jon Bale guiding lessons 2 and 3.
Lesson 1 - Introduction to mindfulness and acceptance, based on Dr. Khazan's book “The Clinical Handbook of Biofeedback: A Step-by-Step Guide to Training and Practice with Mindfulness” and its integration into the Mindfulness Suite.
Lessons 2 & 3 - Examined all aspects of the Mindfulness Suite with the goal of clean and successful data acquisition: generating the psychophysiological profile assessment; artifacting data; basic psychophysiological assessment report interpretation and treatment planning based on results; recording a relaxation evaluation, resonant frequency assessment and training screens. These two lessons focused heavily on the technical use of the software.
Lesson 4 - Dr. Khazan interpreted four psychophysiological profile assessment report, aiding in the attendees’ understanding of interpreting client data while keeping in mind relevant mindfulness perspectives.
