The Thatcher Lifespan Normative Database by Applied Neuro-science, Inc. Neurofeedback is a therapeutic training process in which individuals learn to modify their cognitive functioning – including corresponding behaviors and feelings – by using real-time computerized feedback to normalize brainwave activity. The software has been developed to present real-time comparison of EEG signals from up to 4 locations on the head with the Thatcher “Z-Score” values. It is a based on a non-invasive treatment approach that allows the individual to gain information about his or her brainwave activity and use that information to produce changes . In Neurofeedback, trainees use the electroencephalogram (a recording of brainwaves) and other physiological information, such as skin temperature and galvanic skin response (which are both indicators of stress and arousal) to assess their state and learn to make changes. The Z-Score Suite includes individual z-scores, metrics describing the overall state of a number of z-scores, as well as z-score with standard EEG band amplitudes in parallel.
